ok, so we got hired to do an album cover for this band for an EP they were doing and gave us some ideas for covers, etc. that were pretty much rip-offs of other peoples’ stuff. they liked propaganda posters (shephard fairey/obey) and the colors red, white and black (every white stripes album).
after shooting down our first “creative genius” idea, we came up with this elaborate (but simply executed) idea involving russian minimalism of the 1930s, etc. and put it to use with a slightly altered color scheme and came up with something we were rather proud of.
the band did not end up going with this design. for reasons i will abstain from mentioning here, they opted to do their own work. the result was… well, you can be the judge of that. we will post that once it is released.
